When You Come To A Fork In The Road, Take It

When You Come To A Fork In The Road, Take It
Yogi Berra

In case you didn't know, Yogi Berra was a New York Yankee All Star and Hall Of Fame baseball player and manager. However, what he was best known for was his crazy quotes. Below are some of them. Believe it or not, Yogi didn't make them up. They just came out of his mouth when he was interviewed by the press.

1. When you come to a fork in the road, take it.
2. You can observe a lot by just watching.
3. It ain’t over till it’s over.
4. It’s like déjà vu all over again.
5. No one goes there nowadays, it’s too crowded.
6. Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical.
7. A nickel ain’t worth a dime anymore.
8. Always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise they won’t come to yours.
9. We made too many wrong mistakes.
10. Congratulations. I knew the record would stand until it was broken.
11. You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I’m not hungry enough to eat six.
12. You wouldn’t have won if we’d beaten you.
13. I usually take a two-hour nap from one to four.
14. The future ain’t what it used to be.
The reason I like the quote "When You Come To A Fork In The Road, Take It" best is because it says to me that when you come to the fork you just can't sit there and contemplate your navel, you have to make a decision.
In my book "Never Buy A Hat If Your Feet Are Cold" I state that if you make more right decisions than wrong decisions, you're doing good - however, no decision is a wrong decision.
We worry too much that we will make the wrong decision. Doing so, puts us in a deep freeze. When you're in that state you will probably not make any decision. For example, you know the marriage is over, but you're too afraid (frozen) your decision will be the wrong one. Sooo, you stay in a unhappy loveless marriage pissed off that you didn't have the strength to make that tough decision.
As you know, I made that decision twice. I did it for my happiness and it sure worked out for me. Don't get me wrong, I made plenty of wrong decisions. But, I'm proud of myself for making the decisions I made. I'm proud that I didn't let my fear stop me from making decisions in both business and in life.
What about YOU? You know you have to make a decision for your happiness. Sooo,
When You Come To A Fork In The Road, Take It

Forget The Past

Forget The Past

One of the great things about getting older is that you have a lot to look back on. However, sometimes it's better if you don't.

Relationships sometimes come to an end for a host of reasons. When it's fresh in your mind you ask yourself why. When it's fresh in your mind you feel confused, frustrated or angry as to why someone stopped talking to you. But, when you get older and the relationship ended a long time ago, you have forgotten what it was all about in the first place.

When it's fresh in your mind, should the other party call you, you tell them you're pissed. When your older and the other party calls you, out of the blue, you say to them: I'm not sure why we were fighting in the first place - want to do lunch.

Then you start thinking maybe I should be calling some people I stopped talking to a long time ago because I don't remember why I stopped talking to them in the first place. You see, friendships are very hard to come by and they get even harder as you get older. That's why it a hell of a lot better if you Forget The Past and try to renew the friendship for the future.

I almost lost a great friend. We didn't talk for many years. Then one day one of us called the other (I can't remember who went first and it didn't matter). We talked like nothing happened. When we thought about it we had no idea why we stopped talking in the first place. We laughed and now we are still great friends.

Sometimes having CRS (CAN'T REMEMBER SHIT) is the best solution to keeping friends you've known for many, many years still friends. I'm glad when we talked I;

One Of The Keys To Happiness Is A Bad Memory

One Of The Keys To Happiness Is A Bad Memory
Rita Mae Brown

I read this quote the other day and I had to think about what she meant. Here is what I came up with:

* Someone hits your car and you're pissed. For your happiness, call the insurance company and FA-GET-ABOUT-IT.

* You feel bad because you came late to a lunch date with friends. Apologize and FA-GET-ABOUT-IT.

* A friend stops talking to you and you can't help thinking you did something wrong. Accept it's their problem not your problem and FA-GET-ABOUT-IT.

* You break your toe because you were being stupid. Get the toe fixed and FA-GET-ABOUT-IT.

* Your Mother keeps telling you what to do. She makes you feel like you're not good enough. FA-GET-ABOUT-IT HER.

I could go on and on and I'm sure you all have stories on you own that would have made your life a lot happier if you would just:

FA-GET-ABOUT-IT.
