Why Doesn't The Federal Government Legalize Pot

Why Doesn't The Federal Government Legalize Pot

As you know the majority of states have legalized Pot for either medical purposes or recreational purposes. The Federal Government, however, classifies Pot at a Grade Three offence. Cocaine and heroin are also Grade Three offences.

What's wrong with that picture?

OK, about a third of the country believe Pot is a dangerous drug. The other two thirds either don't care or they have seen, heard or have personal experience with the good Pot has done for them or their loved ones (especially those with Cancer). I have a very bad back. The CPD and CPN form of Pot helps me get through the day without taking dangerous drugs like Oxycontin.

Let's take a look at Pot as compared to alcohol. The vast majority of car crashes and deaths are alcohol related. Many, many fights and abusive behavior (like beating up a wife) are caused by alcohol intoxicated people. Meanwhile, the Pot smokers are sitting on their couch smoking a joint (or vaping) watching 437 (the actual number) reruns of "Law and Order" while eating a bag of Cheetos.

Recreational use of Pot, as long as it's not abused, is a much safer drug than alcohol. It has less side effects. Pot has much less internal medical problems (especially if you eat it instead of smoking it) than alcohol. Pot is a clear winner over alcohol.

Many of the third of the country that wants Pot banned, drink alcohol. Some of those people take pain pills or other drugs to get them through the day. Sooo, is Pot good for you - NO! However, given the alternative, it's a lot better than the other ways to get high. A Country without anybody getting high would be great, but it's not realistic. Humans have found ways to get high a whole lot of years before America was discovered.

Sooooo, Why Doesn't The Federal Government Legalize Pot and tax the shit out of it? They do that with alcohol and cigarettes. Legalizing Pot would bring in billions. Maybe, more people will switch from alcohol and cigarettes to Pot. The cost of US medical expenses would dramatically be reduced. The cost of lives would be dramatically reduced. The sales of Cheetos would dramatically increase.

Again, Why Doesn't The Federal Government Legalize Pot? It's simple: the alcohol, cigarette and pharmaceutical companies who give many, many millions of dollars to Government Leaders and lobby them to make sure Pot stays illegal.

BTW, to hedge their bets, many of those companies own pot growing companies because they know:

Pot Is Happening - Like It Or Not

Are We Running Out Of Time

Are We Running Out Of Time

Time is a funny thing. We sometimes have too much time and sometimes we don't have enough time. The first thing that pops into most peoples' mind is that as we grow older, we feel like we're running out of time. If you look at the facts, more people die before fifty than die at eighty.

People at fifty or younger die from car accidents, health problems, drugs, shootings, work stress and or suicide.

People in their seventies and eighties don't drive drunk and some don't drive at all. People in their seventies and eighties don't do enough drugs to kill themselves. People in their seventies and eighties are more conscious of their health and do things to stay alive longer. Younger people take health for granted.

People in their seventies and eighties don't belong to gangs that shoot each other. People in their seventies and eighties are retired and don't have work stress. People in their seventies and eighties almost never commit suicide - they want more out of life not less.

Sooo, who is really running out of time?

People fifty and younger take time for granted. They need to pay more attention to life. They need to realize that time is running out for them. They need to realize how precious time is. They need to pay attention to their health, their stress, be very careful when they drive, get the right help when life doesn't go as planned and stop misusing drugs and alcohol.

I'm seventy four and time is not on my side, but that just makes me want to get the most out of life in the time I have left. My suggestion to everybody is:

Focus Less On Time And More On Life

Why Does It Always Come Down To The Last 2 Minutes

Why Does It Always Come Down To The Last 2 Minutes

I'm a sports fan, but this blog has nothing to do with sports. I'm also a movie fan. It could be a theater movie or a TV movie. It could be a four checker movie or a one checker movie. Actually, I've seen one-checker movies that were better than some four-checker movies. However;

Why Does It Always Come Down To The Last 2 Minutes.

I'll get to that, but first, there are some things that people, who write movies, makes me nuts. For example, the car won't start trick. The goodie is trying to catch the baddie. They run from each other. The baddie gets into his car and drives away. The goodie gets into his car and the car won't start. Now tell me, when in the modern era have you ever been in or seen a car that wouldn't start - who writes this shit?

I love shoot-um-up movies. What I can't stand is that when chasing the bad guys in a car chase, they never SHOOT THE TIRES! It doesn't matter if it's a movie from the forties - fifties or a movie today. It doesn't matter if the good guys and/or the bad guys are using automatic weapons - they never SHOOT THE TIRES. I find myself watching these movies and screaming at the screen: "SHOOT THE TIRES." Who writes this shit?

Did you ever notice that cop movies never catch the bad guy on the first try. For example, the cops know who the bad guy is and see him on the street corner. They yell, Police! Guess what happens next, the bad guy runs (DUH) and they have to chase him for many blocks before he always gets away. Why not assume he will run and surround him before they yell "POLICE." Who writes this shit?

Back to the subject of this blog - "Why Does It Always Come Down To The Last 2 Minutes." It doesn't matter if it's a James Bond movie from the fifties or today. It doesn't matter If it's a Spy movie or any other action movie, the bad guy always has a bomb that will go off in just a few minutes unless the good guy stops the bomb in the last second.

About seventy percent of action movies involve something really bad is going to happen unless the good guy stops it from happening. The clock (it's always a clock - analog or digital) is set for 10 minutes. The bad guy starts the clock - 9.99 - 9-98 - 9-97 etc. The clock is now at .09 - .08 - .07 and at .01 (in some better movies it goes to .02) before the good guy or good girl stops the clock.

This situation is pretty standard, but what really makes me crazy is that the clock is going down much slower than the action. for example, in the 2010 movie "SALT," Angelina Jolie is trying to stop a Russian baddie from starting a war between Russian and The United States by sending a nuclear missile toward Russia.

He captures the Unites States President and knocks him out. He puts the President's hand print on the control that will allow the missile to activate. The clock starts the countdown 2.00 - 1.99 - 1.98. SALT is the only one who can stop the countdown. First, she has to break in to the room the Russian maniac is in - that takes five minutes.

Then, once in the room, she has to fight to the death with the Russian maniac - that takes ten minutes. The countdown is now .05 - .04 - .03. She finally reaches the button and stops the countdown at .01. A 2 minute countdown has now taken fifteen minutes - who writes this shit.

To all my readers, if you don't read this blog in 2 minutes:

For The Good Of The People

For The Good Of The People

Happy and healthy New Year to all my blog people. Besides my wife and my great friends, I have a few passions that invigorate me during the year. I have a passion for writing and blogging. I have a passion for learning new things. I have a passion for keeping my body in the best shape I can. I have a real passion for football.

The football season is a nine-month passion. I don't write as much during that season. For example, I have a short story in my head that wants to come out. It's called "For The Good Of The People." It's an economic thriller. I have the beginning, the middle and the ending all laid out - I just have to write it.

Once the Super Bowl is over, I'm going to fill in the blanks. Hopefully, I'll have a book for you to read by the end of the summer. I better do it by then because football starts for real in September.

The title (not the economic thriller), "For The Good Of The People" got me thinking about what's been happening to our wonderful country. I looked at 2018 and saw the dismantling of "The Good Of The People" by our political system. I've never personally experienced the divisiveness that's happening in our beautiful country these last two years.

I've never seen so much hatred of "The People" being espoused by "The People." Maybe not the majority, but way, way too many people are against people who don't look or act like themselves. There are too many have-not people and too many people who don't give a shit that those people don't have what they have.

Attacking people of color, religious beliefs and those trying to make a better life for themselves seems to be the norm in this country. What happened to "bring me your tired and poor?" What happened to "all people are the same in the eyes of God (no matter how you define God)?" What happened to "all people are equal in the eyes of the law?" What happened to our Constitutional rights?

"For The Good Of The People," things have to change in 2019 and beyond. "We The People" have to put people in government positions that will make it a priority "For The Good Of The People." We have to hold corporations accountable to "The People" who work for them, sell to them and buy their products.

Lastly, we have to hold ourselves accountable;

"For The Good Of The People"
