Forgiveness
Those of you who read my blogs know
that I sometimes get my inspiration from the
songs I listen to. Today I listened
to the song “In the heart of the matter “by Don Henley.
The focus of this song is
forgiveness. Below are a few of his words:
“Ah these times are so uncertain
There’s a yearning undefined
People filled with rage
All we need is a little tenderness
How can love survive
In such a graceless age
Oh the trust and self-assurance
That lead to happiness
They’re the very things we kill I
guess
Oh the pride and competition
Cannot fill these empty arms
I’ve been trying to get down
To the heart of the matter
Because the flesh will get weak
And the ashes will scatter
But I think it’s about forgiveness,
forgiveness “
I'm sure we all have had things happen to us that we believe are unforgivable. I'm sure we see things happening around the world that are unforgivable. However, we have to ask ourselves: "how has being unforgivable enhanced our happiness?"
People do unforgivable things. Even we might have done unforgivable things. I know this is hard to swallow, but what I have found is that having forgiveness in my heart has served me much better than holding on to the anger of unforgivable actions.
We don't have to like the unforgivable actions. We don't have to say: "I forgive you." However, if you want to be happy for the rest of your life take ten deep breaths and
Put Forgiveness Into Your Soul.
