Forgiveness

Forgiveness
Those of you who read my blogs know that I sometimes get my inspiration from the
songs I listen to. Today I listened to the song “In the heart of the matter “by Don Henley.
The focus of this song is forgiveness. Below are a few of his words:

“Ah these times are so uncertain
There’s a yearning undefined
People filled with rage
All we need is a little tenderness
How can love survive
In such a graceless age
Oh the trust and self-assurance
That lead to happiness
They’re the very things we kill I guess
Oh the pride and competition
Cannot fill these empty arms
I’ve been trying to get down
To the heart of the matter
Because the flesh will get weak
And the ashes will scatter
But I think it’s about forgiveness, forgiveness “

I'm sure we all have had things happen to us that we believe are unforgivable. I'm sure we see things happening around the world that are unforgivable. However, we have to ask ourselves: "how has being unforgivable enhanced our happiness?"

People do unforgivable things. Even we might have done unforgivable things. I know this is hard to swallow, but what I have found is that having forgiveness in my heart has served me much better than holding on to the anger of unforgivable actions.

We don't have to like the unforgivable actions. We don't have to say: "I forgive you." However, if you want to be happy for the rest of your life take ten deep breaths and

Put Forgiveness Into Your Soul.

Things To Do On A Cruise

Things To Do On A Cruise

Higher end cruise ships have many things to do. You can lay by the pool and drink a discussing fruity drink that has enough calories, carbohydrates and sugar to kill you at least six months sooner.

You can eat all the bad shit you would never consider eating at home. It's not that the food doesn't taste good, it's that your cruise package allows you to order everything on the menu without additional cost. Why not try two appetizers, plus soup or salad, at least two main courses and every desert available.  I paid for it, I'm eating it.  The only problem is you can't get into your pants by day four of your cruise.

If you have the premium (all you can drink) booze and wine package, you can go through the day not knowing if the ship is rocking or its just you rocking.  Believe me, when the ship is in port, it's you rocking.

You can take excursions at every port the ship docks.  The cost is through the roof and you will probably be on a bus full of people with a guide who is speaking in broken English and just won't shut the f..k up. The places they go are very interesting, but I don't care that this toilet was built in the 18th century.  Lastly, if I see and hear about another old church I feel like bashing the tour guide's head in.

On board the ship are many, many activities. Most suck, but there are some that's fun or interesting.  The problem is there isn't enough fun and interesting activities to fill a twelve day cruise.  Sooo, when on board,  I'm either writing a blog  (like I'm doing right now) or at the bar talking to drunk strangers.

However, the best thing a cruise has to offer is meeting new people from around the world. My wife and I have been lucky so far in that we've shared time with people who have become friends.

In my opinion, finding fun and interesting people are the best

To My Grandchildren

To My Grandchildren

Life is too short. I'm going to live to the year 2038 and even that seems way too short. I hope my beautiful wife and my good friends are around to see me off. I'm sure my Grandchildren will be there. However, I decided today to say a few things to them now.

I envy the world you are going to grow up into. I know it looks like crap right now, but I truly believe it will continue to get better and better as the years roll on. Technology will make it better way beyond what we have today. You both will have many years to enjoy those positive changes.

You're one of the lucky ones who have great caring parents who have means. From what I'm seeing now they are giving you a solid foundation. Those strong foundation tools will enable you to make good decisions as you mature.

Because your parents have means, you will be able to choose a career and a life that will bring happiness to you and the people around you. Please make sure you never stop appreciating what you have. Please make sure you never stop caring about the people who don't have as much as you. Please make sure you never stop trying to make this world a better place to live in.

Please make your happiness your primary goal. There will be many people in your life who think you should be this or do that. Never let the outside world make those decisions for you. This is your life and these are your choices.

Please put love in your life. Love unconditionally even if you don't get what you want. Try your best to love those who don't love you back. Please believe me that taking this approach will serve you better than the alternative.

Be the source of positive energy. The people you contact on a day to day basis will not only feel your positive energy, they will embrace it and most will give you positive energy back. Try your best to eliminate hatred, anger and bigotry from your heart. Those three things will never serve you and your goal toward happiness.

Lastly, I love you now and will love you no matter what you decide to become because:

I know you will always be lovable.

Tell Everybody You Know You've Got A Rock And Roll Soul

Tell Everybody You Know You've Got A Rock And Roll Soul

I tell everybody I know I've got a rock and roll soul. OK, sooo, what the hell does that mean? For me that means I've got a young and vibrant soul. Even at seventy one I put my ear phones on, turn up the rock and roll and dance with my dog before I walk her.

For me, rock and roll comes in many flavors. From The Rolling Stones to Three Dog Night to The Black Crows to The Commodores to even country singers Bob Seger and John Mellencamp - It's all rock and roll to me. You see, it's not about the music; it's about how the music makes me feel. You see, it's not about the songs; it's about how I feel.

My father believed rock and roll was just noise. My mother only listened to Frank and Tony. My father didn't have a rock and roll soul. My mother, even though she only liked crooners, had a rock and roll soul. I guess I got my soul from my Mom.

Sooo, even though you only listen to Big Band or Opera or Country or Jazz, etc., it's all about how that music makes you feel. Even if you don't listen to any music, it's all about whether you have or don't have a young and vibrant soul.

For those of you who don't have a young and vibrant soul, you're just going through the motions of life. For some of you, life is all about getting through the day. For a very few (I hope) of you, life is not worth living. I hope that those people find a way to change their soul via music, religion, a therapist or any other way that gives you the best chance of putting a smile on your soul.

For those of you that have a young and vibrant soul:

Tell Everybody You Know You've Got A Rock And Roll Soul

Trump - It's Worst Than I Thought

Trump - It's Worse Than I Thought

I've been trying my best to avoid being political in my blogs. The main purpose of my blogs is to help people find happiness in their life. I'm sure everyone who reads my blogs knows I'm more liberal than conservative.  However, I've tried my best to get my readers to read between the lines and to see my liberalism as it relates to happiness.

Yesterday, Trump delivered a speech on his policies regarding Immigration. I've decided I can't take it anymore and have to speak out. Below is a summation of his ten step policy. I know some of my readers will not be in agreement with this blog. They have that right and I respect it, but for me I believe his policies will not make the America I love better. On the contrary, I believe it will make things worse.

Trump vowed to create a "deportation task force" within the Immigration and Customs Enforcement division "focused on identifying and quickly removing the most dangerous criminal illegal aliens in America." He said he would boost the ranks of enforcement agents to enforce existing laws. He vowed that any undocumented immigrants who are caught crossing into the US will be "detained until they are removed from our country" and sent back to their country of origin. And he promised to repeal President Barack Obama's executive orders shielding some younger undocumented people, including those born in the United States -- so called Dreamers, from deportation.

Trump stated: "within just a few years immigration as a share of national population is set to break all historical records. The time has come for a new immigration commission to develop a new set of reforms to our legal immigration system in order to achieve the following goals.

To keep immigration levels measured by population share within historical norms. To select immigrants based on their likelihood of success in U.S. society and their ability to be financially self- sufficient.

We take anybody. Come on in, anybody. Just come on in. Not anymore."

Although I have a problem with the first paragraph, I'm appalled with his other statement. What I believe he is stating is that we need to change America's position on being a country of Immigrants.

What I believe is that he wants to balance the number of white American people to make sure we are not overridden with non-whites. To me this is the worst form of racism. We all know how he feels about Hispanic and Muslim people, but what if he decides we should stop letting Jews, Indians, Asians, etc. into this country?

Some will say I'm paranoid, but my parents grew up in the Hitler days. There are countries, like Russia, North Korea, Syria, etc. today who keep out those they don't like. Do we really want America to become like them?

I've spent my life trying to find good in everyone. I even told people that if Trump becomes President, America will be just fine. Now I believe:

It's Worse Than I Thought!!!!
