Star Trek

Star Trek

First, Happy and Healthy New Year to all. 2018 will be a fabulous year if we make it a fabulous year.

Sooo, what do I do during the holidays? My wife and I don't like to travel over the holidays because it's too crazy. My wife and I don't like to go out to dinner on Christmas or New Year because everything is too expensive and the food is subpar. Sooo, Ellen cooks (she is a fantastic cook) and we stay home. She likes to play on her iPad and I like to watch old movies.

To that last point, I just watched the 1994 movie Star Trek Generations. The movie was good (for a Star Trek movie), however, the last line in the movie got me to take a step back.

"What We Leave Behind Is Not As Important As How We Lived"

Wow, that's deep. We all would like to think we could leave behind a legacy. Most of us are just average people and a legacy is out of our reach. I would like to believe that my books and blogs will be my legacy. I would like to believe my positive impact on others will be my legacy.

However, while thinking about my legacy, I sometimes forget how important it is to focus on how I have lived.  In my later years, I know my love of family and friends is the way I have lived. In my later years, I know my honesty and trust is the way I have lived. In my later years, I know my positive energy and thinking is the way I have lived. In my later years, I know my love of life is the way I have lived.

Like I said, most of us won't leave behind a legacy, but we can decide on how we will live. Think about:

"What We Leave Behind Is Not As Important As How We Lived"
