Why The Hell Are We Going To Mars

Why The Hell Are We Going To Mars

In a previous blog I wrote that the United States and NASA should stop spending billions and billions on going to Mars and use that money to cure Cancer. Welllllllll, I've been thinking about that.

Yesterday I watched a 2009 movie called "2012." The movie is what my wife and I call a two checker. A four or five checker is an outstanding movie. A one checker is a movie that nobody went to see because the movie is one of the worst ever made.

That leaves us with a three and two checker. A three checker may not be a great movie, but, people watched it, might have some good acting and it probably has an OK plot that we've seen in many other movies.

The two checker can be almost anything. I've seen many two checker movies that sucked. However, I've seen many (I like movies) two checker movies that are pretty good. The movie "2012" is one of the better ones because it has a plot (though unrealistic), decent acting and, best of all, the movie blows a lot shit up.

This movie is about the Earth falling apart because of a major radioactive sun flair that starts to cook the Earth like it was put in a microwave oven. The story is about a group of scientists and politicians around the globe putting up billions and billions of dollars to create space ships that could send 400,000 people to Mars before Earth blows up in 2012.

Sorry for the long-winded blog, but, that movie got me thinking. Why are governments and billionaires like the founders of SpaceX and Virgin Galactic spending so much money to land on and inhabitant Mars? Could it be that these people KNOW the Earth is not going to last long if we keep treating it like shit? I'm sure it won't happen in a few years, but, it may happen in fifty years.

Why Mars? We know it has frozen ice (water is critical to life). We believe if we could change that ice to boiling water Mars might be able to create an atmosphere. Considering all the other planets and moons, Mars is the closest to Earth that could support a civilization.

Sooo, I now believe we need to go to Mars. With that said, I continue to believe the world needs to spend whatever it takes to cure Cancer and Alzheimer's NOW.

My suggestion to you all is:

Assume The Earth Is History And You're Going To Appreciate Every Day You Have On This Beautiful Blue Planet
