Opportunity

The thing that's missing from his statement is that "when opportunity knocks, nothing will come of it if you don't take that opportunity and make something of it." I've had opportunities I took advantage of and opportunities I didn't.
I've built a great career and life with the opportunities I've had. However, I never went for the brass ring, because I was brought up to limit my risks and had gotten married at 20 with kids that made risk taking difficult. Being a multi-multi millionaire or maybe even a billionaire were not happening because I wasn't willing to be an entrepreneur in the computer business. I had the talent to do so, but never took the risk. I had many opportunities to do so and probably would have if my choices were different.
Don't get me wrong, I loved my career and the choices I made have given me a great life. I guess, since I grew up poor, being super rich never was that important to me.
Opportunities happen all the time. Some are small (like being a football cheerleader) and some are big (like being an entrepreneur). The thing is, you should take the opportunities that feel right "at that time" and don't look back and say I should have.
Lastly, make sure you're always looking out for those opportunities. Who knows what life changing opportunities might come your way no matter if you are young or old.
