Life Is About The Choices We Make
From the time our brain matured to a point we could make choices those choices defined our life. It could happen when we are three or it could take until we become a teenager. Most of us don't make life choices until we are around ten.
Who we hang out with is our choice. Parents can only do so much in guiding our choices. At three they have ninety percent control. At fourteen they don't have more than ten percent. Now, I'm assuming we have average parents who are working their way through life trying to make the right choice for them and their kids. The really bad parents could screw us up, but when you've become an adult, blaming your parents for your bad choices is bullshit.
We say: "he or she is in jail because their parent(s) abused them at a young age. I'm sure it didn't help them make good choices, but then how do you explain the tens of thousands of people, who were abused at a young age, and then turned out to be fantastic citizens, great parents, serve others, protect our country and make significant contributions to society.
The answer is simple - they made more right choices than wrong choices throughout their lives.
I made right choices growing up. Those choices got me many good friend and rewarding jobs. My sister (who was brought up by the same parents) made wrong choices growing up. She had an unhappy life and became an alcoholic.
I made quite a few bad choices as I got older. I chose the wrong two women to marry. I chose money and promotions over jobs that made me happy. I learned from my mistakes and finally chose the right woman to marry. I learned from my mistakes and chose only those jobs that made me happy.
My sister finally made a great choice and went to AA. She was ten years sober before cancer killed her. My parents only made choices that were safe. The effect of those choices left them with half a life. Watching them go through a blah life encouraged me to make life choices that would give me the fullest life available to me.
Please believe me that your next choice will impact your life. Maybe only a little or maybe a lot. In my opinion:
If You Make Life Choices That Will Enhance Your Happiness - You've Made The Right Choice.
