For The Good Of The People
Happy and healthy New Year to all my blog people. Besides my wife and my great friends, I have a few passions that invigorate me during the year. I have a passion for writing and blogging. I have a passion for learning new things. I have a passion for keeping my body in the best shape I can. I have a real passion for football.
The football season is a nine-month passion. I don't write as much during that season. For example, I have a short story in my head that wants to come out. It's called "For The Good Of The People." It's an economic thriller. I have the beginning, the middle and the ending all laid out - I just have to write it.
Once the Super Bowl is over, I'm going to fill in the blanks. Hopefully, I'll have a book for you to read by the end of the summer. I better do it by then because football starts for real in September.
The title (not the economic thriller), "For The Good Of The People" got me thinking about what's been happening to our wonderful country. I looked at 2018 and saw the dismantling of "The Good Of The People" by our political system. I've never personally experienced the divisiveness that's happening in our beautiful country these last two years.
I've never seen so much hatred of "The People" being espoused by "The People." Maybe not the majority, but way, way too many people are against people who don't look or act like themselves. There are too many have-not people and too many people who don't give a shit that those people don't have what they have.
Attacking people of color, religious beliefs and those trying to make a better life for themselves seems to be the norm in this country. What happened to "bring me your tired and poor?" What happened to "all people are the same in the eyes of God (no matter how you define God)?" What happened to "all people are equal in the eyes of the law?" What happened to our Constitutional rights?
"For The Good Of The People," things have to change in 2019 and beyond. "We The People" have to put people in government positions that will make it a priority "For The Good Of The People." We have to hold corporations accountable to "The People" who work for them, sell to them and buy their products.
Lastly, we have to hold ourselves accountable;
"For The Good Of The People"
