Actions For A Happy Life
There is a book "The Three Prescriptions For Happiness" by Ken Keys Jr. that has had a big impact on my life and my happiness. The Three Prescriptions are:
1- Ask for what you want, but don't demand it
2- Accept what's happening for now
3- Love unconditionally even if you don't get what you want
Instead of explaining each one to you, I strongly suggest you read the book.
Over the years I have learned additional actions one could take to create a happy life:
* Love life. No matter how bad things get, find a way to love life. In my opinion, this is all the life we are going to get. Until someone shows up from the "after life" and tells me how much better that is, I'm going to love, love, love this life.
* Have a passion for something. Don't just "like" somethings, have a passion for at least one of those things. I have many passions in my life. I have a passion for football. I have a passion for my writing. I have a passion for helping people I mentor.
* Love something with all your heart. I love my wife with all my heart. Before she died, I loved my dog Zita with all my heart. I have friends and family that I love with all my heart. I love for ME with all my heart. Having love in your heart is the best way to have a happy life.
* Put yourself in first position. My mother would say: "that's being selfish" I say: "I deserve to be in first position." I'm a good person. I'm an honest and truthful person. I always try my best to do the right thing. I deserve to be in first position. Sooo, when the wife asks me which steak do I want, I always tell her: "the best one."
* Don't be afraid to call bullshit. So many people are trying to tell you what to do. So many people are telling you how it is. When what they say doesn't feel right or is away from your moral compass - CALL BULLSHIT!
* Always tell the truth (your truth). Oh, you say: "I don't want to hurt someone's feelings" - I'M CALLING BULLSHIT. If my wife just bought a dress and wants to know if I like it, I'm telling her the truth. I might say: "looks great." I might also say: "that dress makes you look like a bag lady." The truth (your truth) is the truth. The truth will set you free. You will get the utmost of respect if you are thought of as the person who always tells the truth (your truth).
If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, make the above part of your life.
