Lyin Is Lyin

There are many kinds of lyin. Little white lies, bold face lyin and lyin by omission. However, as my father would say: Lyin is lyin." 

Lyin on your taxes is lyin. Lyin on a test is lyin. Lyin to get out of trouble is lyin. lyin on a business deal is lyin. Lyin to the ones you love is mondo lyin. Lyin to anyone to get more money is lyin even if you believe they can afford it. Lyin so you don't hurt another person's feelings is lyin. Lyin because you don't think the others can handle the truth is lyin. Lyin to protect someone else from a bad situation (even if it might get them out of jail) is still lyin.

I could go on and on, but you get my point. However, most people don't think telling some lies are bad. The IRS can afford giving me more money than I deserve so a little lyin is OK. Also, why not lie to the IRS - everybody else is doing it.

This kind of thinking is destructive to both the people you're lyin to and yourself. The IRS can't afford it because the Government is funded on the backs of all of us. The bigger the lie the larger the tax increases. Who pays the most for your little white lie? It's the people who least can afford it. Sooo, if you knew you were taking food out of the mouth of a middle class family, would you still be lyin? You don't need those few extra dollars.

Lyin is a big problem for you (unless you're a psychopath).  Every lie, big or small, eats away at your inter-being. Each lie is a bite out of your inter-security. People who lie most of the time are insecure and don't like themselves. People who lie a lot are not happy people. People who lie a lot will eventually lose something that is so precious to every human being - trust and respect.

Lying because you don't want to hurt someone's feelings is bullshit because it's not about them it's about you. You don't lie to make them feel better. You lie because you're afraid they won't like you anymore. You lie because you're insecure. You lie because the truth sometimes hurts and you never want to be the person who hurts anybody. 

The problem is lyin is not giving you the results you wanted. In many situations just the opposite happens. Getting caught in a lie hurts the other person more than telling them the truth. You're supposed to be their friend. Getting caught in a lie destroys the trust and respect your friend had in you. It's like saying to your friend: "you're not smart enough to know I'm lyin about your big fat ass."

What's wrong with telling the truth? What's the worst that can happen? The people you're lyin to will still love you if you tell them the truth. You will love yourself more if you tell the truth. 

Lyin to get out of jail or to prevent you from losing your job rarely works. When they find out the truth you will be treated worse than if you told the truth the first time. I'm not talking about murders or bank robbers. Those people don't belong in our society anyway and they rarely get away with it in the long run.  Can you spell Madoff?  

Sooo, if you want to be happy for the rest of your life don't lie. Don't make little white lies, don't make bold face lies and don't lie by omission. A lyin son of a bitch is just that - a son of a bitch. Trust and be secure inside yourself to tell the truth. Don't let lyin eat away at your soul and your happiness. Telling the truth WILL make you proud of yourself.

I'd Be Lyin if I didn't believe Lyin Is Lyin.
