Happy Easter
I'm not religious so I don't celebrate Easter like religious people would celebrate, but there are things about Easter I like. First and foremost is that Easter brings families together. Most would say that Easter is for the kids, but to get the kids together you have to get the adults together.
The question is why does it take Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas or any other religious holiday to bring everyone together? There is a show on TV called Blue Bloods. One of the best things I like about that show is in every episode there is a scene where the entire family sits down for Sunday dinner.
They just don't eat, they talk. They talk about their lives, their work, their differences, etc. I don't know how realistic that is because I didn't have that growing up. However, we just had a Cousins reunion when everyone got together and ate, drank, talked and were merry. For me, that felt really good.
I guess everyone is too busy and too relocated to get together for Sunday dinner. Kids (teenagers and older) don't want to spend time with their parents because most parents are too judgmental and want to probe into their kids' lives. Parents are too busy with work and enjoying their lives when the kids go off to college or move out for other reasons.
Sooo, it takes Easter to bring everyone (including the kids) together - what a shame.
OH, BTW, let's not forget the second most important part of Easter:
Yummy yellow marshmallow chickens, coconut dark chocolate Easter eggs and bunny gummy bears.
Wow, I can't wait until tomorrow.
