When Was The Last Time You Cried

Crying, like laughing, is an endorphin release.  It releases stress.  It can make you feel that a huge burden has been lifted off your shoulders.  It can put a smile on your face.  Five minutes after, you could feel fantastic. You can get sympathy from others. It can make you look weak.  It can make you look emotional.  It can make you look out of control.  It can screw with your macho facade.  It can make others cry.  You can lose a job opportunity.  You could get the job.  Others might think you're a cry baby.

Sooo, is crying a good thing or a bad thing.  I'm going with a good thing.  However, many of you think it's a bad thing and do everything you can to not cry.  It's not just men - many women have the same problem in this women's lib era.  Trying not to cry is not natural.  You are stopping the body from doing what it wants to do.  It's like trying not to go to the bathroom when you have to pee or poop.  We all know that doesn't end well.

Crying can depend on why you're body wants to do it in the first place.  If you're watching a movie that is so funny you start crying don't try to stop it.  It's a reaction to the flood of endorphins that are being released from your frontal lobe.  Holding back could make a negative out of a positive.  If you just experienced a tragedy crying is necessary because if you don't you'll get even more depressed.

If your crying because you lost a tough game, that just means your very competitive.  If your crying because you won a tough game, that's you being really happy.  If your crying because you lost an earring, let it out and immediately remember it's just a thing that can be replaced.  If your crying because you lost your wallet, let it out, but remember crying will not get it back.  You just have to go through the trouble to replace everything.  If your crying because someone has more than you, go back and read all my blogs.

If your crying because you're depressed, let it out and don't force a stop.  Accept what's happening for now and get help.  Avoiding depression is very bad.  It may be personal, physiological, chemical or all of the above.  The worst thing you can do is to try not to be depressed and try not to cry.

If your crying because you can't get what you want - get a life.  Focus on what you do have not what you don't.  After the cry is over, find something to laugh about.  Always remember, you are in control of your happiness.  You can choose to be a happy positive energy person or an unhappy negative energy person.  Which one do you think is better?

I love crying over a great laugh.  I cry every time I see the ending of the movie "Sleepless in Seattle."  I cry when I see others suffer.  Am I emotional?  I hope so.  Showing my emotions is letting my body do what it wants to do.  The people I care about love me even more because I can show my feelings.

Do I look less macho?  Who cares! What's it their business.  I don't even know what it means to be macho and I don't care.  I know they love me just the way I am.  Do I look out of control?  Everybody who truly knows me, knows I'm in charge of my life and my happiness - are you?

Do I use crying to get sympathy from others - never.  Using crying as a tool might be good if you want the part in a movie, but forcing your body to cry for sympathy reasons is manipulation.  The body doesn't want to cry, therefore you are forcing the body to do something it doesn't want to do.  That's not a good thing and will not make you a happy person (unless it gets you that job you always wanted).

You're never a cry baby if you cry because you need to.  You are a cry baby if you're forcing it to get your way.  Cry babies are negative energy people.  Showing your emotions via crying is positive energy.  If it's real, others might cry along with you.  If they do, it must be striking a nerve inside them.  That nerve needs the release of crying.  Hugging while the two of you are crying can create a bond that could last forever - positive energy.

We all have buttons inside of us that when pressed tells the body to cry.  Putting up barriers to prevent your buttons from being pressed will not lead you to happiness.  Go watch a movie that presses a button and get a good cry.  You'll feel fantastic five minutes afterward.  Don't try to cry, just let the body do what it wants to do.  You will be a happier person for it.

I don't cry often, but when it happens, I know it's for the best.  I know I'll be happier if I let it out.  I know my true friends will understand and stand by me.  I know if it's for happy or sad I will get something positive out of it.  Positive energy begets positive energy.  Positive energy begets happiness.  Happiness is what I seek in life.
